Level Up Workforce Development Programs
Level Up empowers and equips women from underserved communities to successfully enter or re-enter the workforce or start and run their own self-sustaining business. Level Up consists of three key components; rigorous training, coaching and technical assistance, and job resources and placement. The training is a rigorous four-week focusing on; job/career assessment, resume design and development, interviewing skills, and salary negotiation. Participants also learn entrepreneurship – how to start a new business and business financial management. Following the four-week training, participants are guided through an apprentice-like program where they start an actual job search with the support of a workforce development coach. Participants receive ongoing coaching and technical assistance for one year or until they secure their desired job or career goal.
"Sister Nomics"
“Sister-Nomics” is a rigorous financial literacy training program for women and girls ages 14 and up with the financial knowledge and know-how that creates a drive to achieve financial wellness and success. Sister-Nomics features an activity-based curriculum focusing on; budgeting, savings, and long-term financial planning. At the conclusion of the workshop, each participant creates a personalized financial plan designed to help them navigate the journey from surviving to thriving.
Service Name
SWP's Housing & Resource Center (SHRC) provides education and support services to women and teen girls who may be homeless or housing-insecure in the DMV area. The center consists of program counselors and advisors who assess, recommend, and implement life recovery plans designed to assist with their physical, psychological, and spiritual recovery while helping them secure temporary or permanent housing. In addition, women and single mothers from low to moderate income communities who may have stable housing can enroll in the SHRC’s First Time Home Buyer program which helps participants take the first step toward home ownership or permanent supported housing. Working closely with community partners that represent all aspects of the home-buying process, SWP provides a comprehensive suite of housing support services including FTHB training workshops, down payment assistance programs, and partner connections to realtors, mortgage lenders, and other resources.
